pinstripe 70s vibe
The thought of getting dressed in the morning has always motivated me to go to school or work. College is when I began really experimenting with clothing and it was the driving force waking me up from bed at 6 am. I loved school and I love my job now but sometimes I need a little help getting excited to get out of bed and on with my day. Dressing just does that for me.
I wanted to share another work outfit with you. One of my favourite things to do is get dressed for work. Every morning is a fresh slate and I can look completely different from the previous day. These days it feels like anything goes for workwear but I know some workplaces have rules. I work in a hospital in a corporate environment so I try not to show too much skin but I don't hold back my personal style. Some days I'll wear a blouse and pants like below but other days it might be a shift dress and kimono or maxi skirt and beaded top. My colleagues have said: "You just never know what you'll turn around the corner wearing!"
On this very hot and humid day I grabbed an iced green tea with mint.

VELO VOGUEING IT IN FLORAL
If you know me, you know my deep affinity for bicycles. Riding my bike feels like what I would imagine flying to be like. It's so freeing and fun. If you're reading this you might also get the hint that I'm into fashion. Combine the two and I'm in! When Rosie told me about an upcoming bike-fashion show, I was sold. It's called the Velo Vogue fashion show and was held last weekend in Ottawa. The set up was amazing. There were colourful bike wheels hanging from the ceiling, cool seating areas, and an ice cream truck! There was a really funky vibe going on.

I wore my floral suit which has become an instant summer favourite. Ever since I bought it back in the spring, I knew this would be a go to this season. It's a stretch denim so it's very comfortable and the colour palette has my heart.
The show featured models walking and some riding down the runway with their bikes. I wasn't able to get any good snaps for you but if you're curious you can view more coverage here! The bikes were just too fast for my photog skills.

Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show - Spring 2015
Last Sunday was spent at the Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show. It's essentially a HUGE room filled with vintage clothing vendors. I think it's the biggest in Canada. They seemed to have a few new vendors this time around and each vendor switched up their stock from the last show. It's not only a shopping event but also a time to catch up with some of the vendors and a chance to be around people who share the same adoration and passion for vintage clothing.
I fell in love with two purses, check them out below. The bucket bag was one of the first things I saw and I couldn't get it out of my head. It's so sparkly and was very clean on the inside. I thought it would add a nice touch and some dimension to any outfit. The second purse is such a treasure. I almost walked right past it but I saw it in the corner of my eye and had to have it!
Getting dressed for the show is always a major part of the fun! My steamer died last week so I had to choose something that wouldn't require any ironing. I recently picked up this suit and paired it with some light blue heels to make it more spring-y. They weren't the best shoe selection for shopping but I did almost make it the whole show in them!

Spring Has Actually Sprung
Spring just makes me so happy. Those first few days of warm weather are bliss. This season reminds me of two things: biking and the vintage show! I love dusting off my bike and taking my first ride of the season. I just need a new bell and basket and my bike is all set.
The Ottawa Clothing Vintage Show is this weekend! I can't believe how quickly it came up. I'm so excited to see what I'll find this time around. I've been to the show many times before but it's always a new experience. If you're in the Ottawa area, I encourage you to check it out this Sunday from 10-5 pm. Get a discount coupon here!

VIDEO: Holiday Lookbook
The time has come to bust out the sparkles, glitter, sequins, leather, lace, and drama when it comes to your wardrobe! I don't normally get too excited about the holidays but I do love dressing up. While deciding what to wear to parties, get togethers, and family dinners can be fun and exciting, it can also be stressful and time consuming. Every Woman
Last night I attended the Safara Fashion Show with Aurelia. The show, which celebrates African print in fashion, was held in the beautiful Tabaret Hall at the University of Ottawa. After some seating issues, we eventually got settled and the show opened with beautiful, lively African dancers. The first designer, Elie Kuame opened the show with a real bang. He's a designer from Paris and his clothes were just amazing. They hugged each curve yet were so unique.
I absolutely adore African prints. They're colourful, fun, and each print is so different from the next. In event organizer Gwen Madiba's closing speech, she expressed how as human citizens of the world, we should all celebrate African print and wear it with pride. She introduced a winning design for a contest they held and the model walked the runway to Whitney Houston's I'm Every Woman. It was a perfect moment. Learn more about the event here.
My outfit was thrown together in a flash. I don't like to put too much thought or time into how I dress. When I over think it, I tend to end up hating what I come up with. I'm so happy I finally had an occasion to wear my new gold blazer and this red leather purse that I've had for weeks (maybe even months). My hair was inspired by it's too long and I have roots. I think I invented a new hairstyle.

Tinsel Town
I wore this tinsel top to grab a coffee with Aurelia and my sister. I call it a tinsel top because I was basically shedding tinsel, haha. My pants are my new favourites. I've been in a bad phase with pants ever since I've gained weight. I find they just don't feel as good and it's increasingly hard to find nice ones that fit. I scooped these up at Old Navy in the states for just $10. I love the tuxedo stripe trend and was so thrilled to find these. The sandals I actually bought in the winter with hopes I'd be wearing them this spring. They're quite comfy and I love the 90s buckle.
