Thrifting Outfit

I wore this for a night of thrifting with friends. I got a Value Village gift card for my bday and you KNOW I was itching to spend it. Among a bedazzled sweater, gold floral blazer and clear 90's slip on heels, my friend found me a Bristol beat up leather moto jacket. It fit me perfect and was definitely something I was missing from my closet. It was only $12.99 but the catch was it reaked of moth balls and well, vintage. I'm currently trying to nurse it back to smelling not so horrendous and I'm hoping my effort will pay off!

Slip

I wore this last week on a rainy night out for some gelato with friends. I was peer-pressured into buying this slip months ago with hopes of finding some way of wearing it. Weeks went by and I was still clueless. When I finally put it on and got to thinking, I decided to add some excitement to this plain piece with a leather jacket, black wide belt, combat boots, a bright oil slick purse, and a clean face. Because this dress is literally a slip, I felt that by adding some heavy darker pieces, it would look more like an outfit. I was pretty happy with the results! It just goes to show that you're never limited with your style when you think outside the box. I also don't limit myself to certain aisles while shopping. I've often shopped mens, kids, teens, night time, and sportswear. It's all about what you do with what you find! 

How's your summer so far? I've been catching rays, going to concerts, and eating A LOT of ice cream.

Rock 'n Roll Life

Being a vintage lover and colour addict, I'd often condemned wearing all black. Until I did it. 
I think the reason 90's punk revival has been such a huge trend for a couple of years now is because of the way it makes you feel. It was rather out-of-character for me to purchase a spike necklace but once I paired it with my black leather jacket, black dress and leather booties, I couldn't help but feel bad-ass. Especially since I am often referred to as Marilyn Monroe-esque and/or have that vintage/pin-up look, it was refreshing to wear something so out of my norm. Having just dyed my hair a more greyish blonde really enforced the urge to be a bit more dark (fashion-wise, of course.) I double-dog-dare you (yes, I actually said that) to wear a style that you wouldn't normally go for or isn't necessarily expected from you. It's a realllly cool feeling. 
The bag is my new obsession. I had been stalking it at Winners for weeks now but simply couldn't fathom paying the $50 for a bag that would fit only my phone and money. And it still wasn't acceptable once it was reduced to $38. I saw it once again a week ago and wasn't even going to check the price tag because I had seen it only a few days prior at $38 and hadn't expected a change. It must've been my extreme want for the bag that compelled me to check the price tag one more time and I'm glad I did. It was now reduced to $26 and I couldn't say no. Italian leather, real pony hair, ORANGE, mod, shapely and perfect for running errands, going out, or shopping.

Alice

While staying with my Aunt Bev last weekend, I said we got up to making a beautiful fur clutch. Remember that 'useless' piece of white rabbit fur that I bought for a buck while breaking my shopping hiatus? Well it turned out to be not-so-useless after all. I'd encourage you not to throw away craft materials because you can always turn them into something beautiful. In creating the clutch, Bev involved me in the whole process from concept to creation. It was so interesting to see how a purse is made, especially when working with leather and fur. I have to say a huge thanks again to my Aunt for helping me turn my piece of fur into a masterpiece, one-of-a-kind Bev Kidd creation. I await a fancy occasion to rock little Alice at. We called her Alice since Alice in Wonderland had a little white rabbit.
